Patricia Walden, aged 84 years, died Friday, April 15, 2016 in Newtown, PA.
Born February 23, 1932, in Princeton, NJ, Patricia was the daughter of the late Arthur Joseph and Mary (Fallon) Tighe. She was raised in Princeton before living in Hunterdon County most of her life, first in Asbury (Bethlehem Township) NJ, and then to Flemington NJ,. She later lived in Williams Township PA, Las Vegas NV, Lawrenceville NJ, and eventually in Bucks County PA.
She graduated in 1949 from Miss Fine’s School (now known as the Princeton Day School), received a Bachelor’s Degree in American History from Sweet Briar College (VA), and attended graduate school at Trenton State College and Rutgers University. Patricia loved being a teacher, retiring after 34 years as an elementary school teacher, mostly with kindergarten and first grade students. She worked first in the South Brunswick Township School system for ten years, and later with Clinton Public School for twenty-four years. Patricia was a member of the NEA and the NJEA for many years, and was a volunteer at the Grandin Library in Clinton NJ as well.
In addition to her parents, Patricia was predeceased by her daughter, Alexandra Bush, and her sister Jane Tighe Smith. She is survived by daughter, Elizabeth Bush of Hawaii, her son and daughter-in-law, Ben and Jennifer Walden of Centerport NY, her daughter, Emily Walden Beaston of Hopewell NJ, her seven grandchildren, Cordelia Brodie, Fallon and Davis Beaston, Erin, Celia, Thomas and Andrew Walden, her great-grandson, Erik Brodie, as well as her favorite companion, her Japanese Chin, “BoyToy.”
Memorial service officiated by the Rev. Warren Johnson, will be held at 2 p.m. on Saturday, April 23, 2016, at Holcombe-Fisher Funeral Home, 147 Main Street, Flemington, NJ. Interment will be private. Friends may call on Saturday from 1 p.m. until the time of service at the funeral home.
Memorial donations in Patricia’s name may be made to Boys Town, 14100 Crawford Street, Boys Town, NE 68010.
