Paul "Buzzy" Owen Franklin

Paul “Buzzy” Owen Franklin, aged 81 years, died Sunday, July 3, 2016 at his home in Flemington where he lived for nearly 40 years. Born December 28, 1934, in Doylestown PA, Buzzy was the son of the late Charles and Della (Swope) Franklin. He lived for many years in Upper Black Eddy, PA, before moving to Flemington. As a young man, Buzzy was a Boy Scout and loved building model airplanes. After graduation from Palisades High School in Kintersville PA, he joined the US Army in 1957 in the Medical Squadron, where he was stationed in Germany until his discharge in 1959. In Flemington he worked for Telerad Corp., and then for Penn Engineering in Doylestown, PA. Buzzy retired as a Machinist for the former Hunterdon Transformer in Quakertown NJ. Buzzy loved to travel with his late wife, Joan; together, they took many trips across the United States and to Europe. A NASCAR fan for many years, he also loved to bowl. He was a member of various bowling leagues at the former Frenchtown and Flemington Bowling Centers. In addition to his family, Buzzy loved his animals, especially his late dog, “P.J.,” and his three late cats, “Kit Kit,” “Hosta,” and “Mr. Lucky.” Predeceased by his parents and his wife, Joan Rockafellow in 2006, Buzzy is survived by his two sisters and brothers-in-law, Sandy & Woody Hummer of Milford, NJ, and Nancy & Henry Verity of Pittstown NJ, and his brother and sister-in-law, Neil & JoAnn Franklin of North Wales PA, as well as several nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held at 11:30 a.m., Saturday, July 9, 2016 at Holcombe-Fisher Funeral Home, 147 Main Street, Flemington, NJ, officiated by the Rev. James DeVries. Interment will follow in Prospect Hill Cemetery in Flemington. Visitation will be Saturday morning from 9:30 a.m. until the time of service at the funeral home.
