Paul Huffman, age 97 years, of Flemington, NJ, passed away with family by his side on Monday, May 6, 2019 in Rolling Hills Care Center, Clinton Township, NJ.
Born in the Idell section of Kingwood Township, NJ, April 16, 1922, he was the son of the late Harvey and Mabel Jardine Huffman, and brother of Martin Hoffman. He was a lifelong Hunterdon County resident.
Paul was a United States Army veteran of World War II, Past President of the Flemington Kiwanis Club, and a member of American Legion Post #159, Flemington, NJ.
A graduate of Rider College, he retired as a Supervisor with the United States Postal Service in Flemington.
Paul was a longtime member of the Flemington United Methodist Church where he had many great friends.
He was a fan of The White Sox and was an umpire for local baseball leagues. He was fiercely independent and loved the home he lived in since childhood. He collected coins and stamps. He loved to have coffee and talk with the guys at McDonalds and was known by many as a “real character”.
He is survived by his great nieces and nephew, Suellen Frederick, Keith Kanach and Joyce Whaley.
A Memorial Service will be held on Thursday, May 9, 2019 at 10:30 AM in the Holcombe-Fisher Funeral Home, 147 Main Street, Flemington, NJ. Interment with full military honors will follow in Rosemont Cemetery, Rosemont, NJ.
