Pauline Irene Martin, 92, passed away peacefully on February 27, 2019 at her home in Doylestown, Pennsylvania surrounded by her loving family. She was born May 19,1926 in the Bronx, New York City, to the late Wladyslaw (Walter) and Marianne (Krukar) Siedlecki. She was pre-deceased by her loving husband Thomas Frances Martin who served in the United States Navy and with whom she had seven children.
Pauline grew up in Linvale, New Jersey and was among the first students to attend East Amwell Elementary School in Ringoes, N.J. when it opened in 1939. After high school, she attended classes at the Barbizon School in New York City.
Pauline was known for her exceptional creative talents and sense of humor. She was a self-taught artist and enjoyed painting, gardening and interior decorating. While in New York, she hand-tinted photographs, including a portrait of a sailor who later became her husband. Later, she hand-colored prints for The College Watercolor Group, one of the largest print distributors in the United States at the time. Pauline had an eye for beauty and a talent for interior design, leading one guest to remark that her home was “fit for a president.”
Pauline also held professional positions as an administrative assistant in New Jersey State and county lawyers’ offices. She retired from her position managing client services provided by the Hunterdon County Division of Housing in Flemington, New Jersey.
Pauline is lovingly remembered by her children Thomas (Dorothy), Timothy (Janis), Ronald (Barbara), John (Kathleen), Christopher (Doris), Marianne (Gerard) Martin-Pagello and Kathleen (Dean) Harclerode. She will forever be held in the affections of her 14 grandchildren: John, Jamie, Ronald II (Valerie), Rebecca (Dan), Jerrit (Christina), Kimberly (Warren) Jones, Deana, David (Jennifer), Amy (John) Hunt, River, Kelly, Story, Ryan and Michelle. Pauline’s nine great-grandchildren brought her much pleasure and her memory will live on through them: Brooke, Quaid, Madison, Ronald III, John Thomas, Colton, James, Sawyer, Gavin and Ella. Pauline was pre-deceased by her sister Helen Marion and brother-in-law Ed O’Mara of Woodstock, Georgia.
Visiting hours will be held Wednesday, March 6, 2019 from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. at the Holcombe-Fisher Funeral Home, 147 Main Street, Flemington, N.J. Pauline will be laid to rest alongside her beloved husband the following day at a private interment service at the Long Island National Cemetery in Farmingdale, N.Y.
