Pauline (Paula) Wool Shapiro

Pauline (Paula) Woolf Shapiro, age 94 years, of East Amwell Township, NJ, died on Saturday, January 21, 2006

at her residence surrounded by her family.

Born in Bialystok, Russia, May 11, 1911, to the late Abraham and Anna Frankman Woolf, she had resided in East Amwell Township the past thirty-four years, having previously lived in Philadelphia, PA, and

Brooklyn, New York before that.

Mrs. Shapiro was a Chemical Sales Executive and Assistant to the president of Acme Hardesty Company, New York City and Philadelphia, PA, for over 20 years.

An avid reader and writer, Mrs. Shapiro was a co- founder of the Sherlock Holmes Society of Jersey "The Red-Headed League". She was very involved in the Hunterdon Medical Center Cardio-Rehab Program, where she served as an inspiration to many other patients after undergoing

bypass surgery in 1998.

She was predeceassed by her husband, Dr. Nathan Shapiro, in 1946, as well as by two brothers, Dr. Harry Woolf and William Woolf.

Surviving are a daughter and son-in-law, Sondra and Stuart Singer of East Amwell Township, NJ; a son, Philip Lehrer of Herndon, VA; six grandchildren; and ten great-grandchildren.

Graveside Services in Beth David Cemetery, 300 Elmont Road, Elmont, NY, will be held Monday at 11:30 a.m. under the direction of the Holcombe-Fisher Funeral Home, 147 Main Street, Flemington, NJ. Shiva will be observed at the Singer Family residence, Monday from 4-8 p.m. and Tuesday from 4-8 p.m. Please contact the Funeral Home at 908.782.4343 for more information.
