Pearl S. Mcpherson

Pearl S. McPherson, age 93 years, died Friday, February 9, 2018 at Lehigh Center in Macungie PA, where she lived since 2003. Born August 4, 1924 in Doylestown PA, Pearl was the daughter of the late Mahlon and Anna (Strouse) Swartley. She lived in the Hunterdon County area much of her life, in Allerton NJ for more than 40 years, where she raised her family with her late husband, Clarence. Pearl was raised a Mennonite and taught Sunday School for several years. After meeting Clarence and riding on his motorcycle they married and started their family. Pearl enjoyed camping for many years with her family in a motorhome where they travelled throughout the country. She had many friends of the World War II 44th Army Reconnaissance. Pearl had a great sense of humor and one of her proudest achievements was returning to school in her 50’s to obtain her nursing degree. She worked as an LPN on the Surgical Floor at Hunterdon Medical Center and local nursing homes for many years. In addition to her parents and thirteen of her siblings, Pearl was predeceased by her husband, Clarence, US Army Msgt. Ret., in 1999. She is survived by her sons, Rick McPherson of Anderson TX, and Kevin McPherson of Milford NJ, her daughter, Sharon Mayberry of Myrtle Beach SC, her sister, Madeline Ostrowski of Pennsylvania, as well as her seven grandchildren and five great-grandchildren. Funeral services for Pearl officiated by the Rev. James DeVries, will be held at 10:30 am, Friday, February 16, 2018 at Holcombe-Fisher Funeral Home, 147 Main Street, Flemington NJ. Interment will follow in Sand Brook Cemetery in Delaware Township NJ. Friends may call from 10:00 am until the time of service at the funeral home.
