Peter Prokofiew

Peter Prokofiew, age 59 years, of Kingwood Township, NJ, died Tuesday, June 2, 2020, at the Hunterdon Medical Center, Raritan Township, NJ. Born in Newark, NJ, January 4, 1961, he was the son of the late Rosalia Prokofiew. Peter was a heavy equipment operator and fleet mechanic before becoming an Irvington police officer. An avid car enthusiast, he loved oldies music and motorcycles. He was a devoted father to his children and spent his retired years caring for his autistic son Jonathan. He is pre-deceased by his sister, Lydia Witkoski in 1981. Surviving are his wife Adrian Prokofiew; three children, Jenifer Prokofiew of Maryland, Adam Prokofiew and Jonathan Prokofiew and two sisters, Nadia Petitt of Myrtle Beach, SC, and Monica Polanco also of Myrtle Beach, SC. Funeral services will be private under the direction of the Holcombe-Fisher Funeral Home, 147 Main Street, Flemington, NJ.
