Phyllis L. Polenz

Phyllis Louise Polenz, age 90, died Tuesday, December 27, 2022 at Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital in Somerville NJ.

Born June 2, 1932 in Somerville NJ, Phyllis was the daughter of the late David W. and Louise (Maxon) Amerman. She was raised on a farm in Neshanic NJ and has lived in the area most of her life. For the past few years, she has lived at the Chelsea Assisted Living at Bridgewater.

Phyllis worked as a Nursery School teacher at Pluckemin Presbyterian Nursery School for many years, and she finished her career working as a bank teller at Somerset Trust Bank.

Phyllis loved traveling, gardening, knitting, doing yoga and completing puzzles. In her later years, she enjoyed the activities with her friends at the Chelsea.

Phyllis was predeceased by her husband, Adolf Polenz in 2011 and is survived by three sons and daughters-in-law, Casey Hoff and his wife, Kelly, David Hoff and his wife, Barbara, John Hoff and his wife, Lynn as well as six grandchildren, two great grandchildren, six stepchildren, two of which have passed, and several step grandchildren and great grandchildren. She also had many beloved friends from the Chelsea at Bridgewater that will miss her.

Viewing for Phyllis will be held from 1:00 to 3:00 pm on Saturday, December 31, 2022 at Holcombe-Fisher Funeral Home, 147 Main Street, Flemington, NJ 08822. Interment of cremated remains will take place at 1:00 pm on Monday, January 2, 2023 at Neshanic Cemetery, Amwell Road in Neshanic NJ.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place. Memphis TN 38105 or to a charity of the donor’s choice.
