Phyllis "Mimi"Palumbo, age 85 years, of Raritan Township, NJ, died on Friday, March 25, 2005, at the Hunterdon Medical Center, Raritan Township, NJ.
Mimi was born in New York City, NY, March 28, 1919 to the late Antonia and Martino Aurigemma. She lived her entire life in the Greenwich Village section of Manhattan until she moved to Flemington, NJ in May of 2003, enjoying Independence Manor.
Mimi worked for the Archdiocese of New York for over thirty years, retiring in 2000 as a buyer for church products. She was also active in the Greenwich Village community serving as a Trustee for St. Anthony of Padua Roman Catholic Church and serving on the financial committee in the Ladies Auxiliary of the Knights of Columbus, Knickerbocker Council #221. Mimi was also active with the Senior Citizens group participating in many activities including all their bus trips, especially the ones to Atlantic City.
She was predeceased by her husband Rocco "Buck" Palumbo in 1966. Surviving are a sister, Theresa McInerney, formerly of New York City, now residing at Independence Manor, Raritan Township, NJ; as well as several close nephews and nieces.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Tuesday, March 29, 2005 at 10 AM in St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Church, Summer Road, Three Bridges, NJ. Interment will follow in Long Island National Cemetery, Farmingdale, NY.
