R. Ross Chapin, Jr.

R. Ross Chapin, Jr., age 79 years of Readington Township, NJ, died on Saturday, October 4, 2008 in the Barbara Cheung Hospice Facility, Edison, NJ.

Born in Springfield, MA, December 11, 1928, he was the son of the late Ralph R. Chapin Sr. and Hilda Carson Chapin, and had formerly resided in East Lyme, CT, before moving to Readington Township in 1971.

A graduate of Worcester Polytechnic Institute, Worcester, Ma. He was a chemical engineer with Charles Pfizer and Co. Groton, CT, and later with Beecham Laboratories, Piscataway, NJ until retiring in 1991.

He was a member of the Flemington Presbyterian Church and the Anthracite Railroads Historical Society.

Surviving are his wife of fifty six years, Phyllis Spooner Chapin; two sons, Ralph Chapin III of Birdsboro, PA, and William Chapin of Somerset, NJ; a daughter, Carol Chapin Antedomenico of Danbury,CT; four grandchildren, Justin W. Chapin, Kevin M. Chapin, Grace M. Antedomenico, and Elizabeth Ross Antedomenico.

Funeral Services will be held Wednesday at 2:00 p.m. in the Flemington Presbyterian Church, Main Street, Flemington, NJ. Interment will follow in Newell Cemetery, Stanton, NJ.
