Raymond C. Runkle

Raymond C. Runkle, age 95 years, of Mt. Airy, NJ (West Amwell Township) died Monday, January 6, 2020, at his home in the room on his farm where he was born. A lifelong farmer, he was born April 24,1924, son of the late Alfred and Hazel Chamberlin Runkle and, in addition to farming, was a school bus driver for West Amwell Township School and South Hunterdon Regional High School for thirty-four years. Raymond was a member of the Mt. Airy Presbyterian Church; and former Chief for many years of the West Amwell Township Fire Co.; a former member of the Lambertville Elks Lodge and was a founding member and longtime President of the West Amwell Little League. His wife, Hazel Williamson Runkle, died in 2003. Surviving are a daughter, Sandra Runkle of Flemington, NJ; two sons and daughters-in-law, Bruce and Christine Runkle and Barry and Cathy Runkle, all of West Amwell Township, NJ; four grandchildren, Gwen McNamara, Nathan Runkle, Kyle Runkle and Kerry Runkle; and two great grandchildren, Brendan McNamara and Madeline McNamara. Memorial services will be held Thursday, January 9, 2020, at 11:00AM in the Mt. Airy Presbyterian Church. Interment will be private. There will be no calling hours.
