Raymond E. Hendershot, Jr., age 80 years, of Clinton Township, NJ, died on Friday, November 29, 2013, at his home.
Born in Bloomsburg, PA, December 13, 1932, he was the son of Evelyn Kline Hendershot of Old Bridge, NJ and the late Raymond E. Hendershot, Sr.
He was a United States Army veteran of the Korean War. He played baseball while in the Army.
He was a graduate of Bloomsburg State College. Ray taught Social Studies at Central Columbia High School, Bloomsburg, PA for five years, then at Hunterdon Central High School, Flemington, NJ for twenty-five years. He coached football and baseball at Columbia Central and football and wrestling at Hunterdon Central. He also coached for the Flemington Pioneers and South Hunterdon Little League.
Surviving, in addition to his mother, are his wife of forty-seven years, Susan Campbell Hendershot; a son and daughter-in-law, Steven and Tracey Hendershot; a daughter, Gina Ward; and three grandchildren: Jacob, Charles, and Michelle.
Funeral services will be held on Wednesday at 10:30 AM in the Stanton Reformed Church, Stanton, NJ. Entombment will be in Somerset Hills Memorial Park Mausoleum, Bernards Township, NJ. Calling hours will be held on Tuesday from 4-7 PM in the Holcombe-Fisher Funeral Home, 147 Main Street, Flemington, NJ.
