Raymond Lewis Johnson

Raymond Lewis Johnson, age 74 years, of East Amwell Township, died Friday, August 5, 2022, at his home surrounded by his loving family.

Born in Trenton, NJ, September 4, 1947, he was the son of the late Archie and Dorothy Sharp Johnson.

A United States Marine Veteran serving during the Vietnam war, Raymond received numerous service awards, including the National Defense Service Medal, Vietnam Service Medal, and the Vietnam Campaign Medal. After serving his country Raymond worked as a quality control leadman for Poly One (Wilson Products).

Raymond treasured the time spent with family, friends, and pets. He especially enjoyed taking his grandchildren to the brook to go swimming. An avid History Channel viewer, he liked visiting casinos, fireworks, and sitting by a good bonfire.

He is pre-deceased by one child, Raymond Johnson, Jr. and one grandchild, Eric Scheier. Surviving are his loving wife, Rita Matthews-Johnson; three children, Kelly Lynn Johnson of Quakertown, PA, Vicky Forsythe and her husband Robert of Hopewell, NJ, and Roger Matthews, Jr. of Bonifay, FL; two grandchildren, Elizabeth Scheier-Hamilton and her husband, Jason Hamilton, Abbie Siligrini and her husband, Jason Siligrini; six great-grandchildren, Parker Scheier, Ian Hamilton, Bryce (Tarantino) Harrington, Audrey Hamilton, Gabriel Bencivengo and Myla Siligrini; and one brother, Ed Johnson.

Calling hours will be held Wednesday, August 10, 2022, from 6:00-8:00 PM in the Holcombe-Fisher Funeral Home, 147 Main Street, Flemington, NJ. Graveside services will be held Thursday, August 11, 2022 at 10:00 AM in Washington Crossing National Cemetery, Newtown, PA.
