Rev. Frederick L. Black, III, of Bridgewater Township, NJ, died Wednesday, November 29, 2023, at Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital Somerset, Somerville, NJ.
Born in Terre Haute, IN, October 18, 1938, son of the late Frederick Lee Black, Jr. and Mary Frances White, he had formerly resided in Somerset, NJ.
Frederick’s life calling was serving his community as Pastor for the Bethlehem Presbyterian Church, Pittstown, NJ for thirty-three years. When he wasn’t at the church, Frederick enjoyed traveling with his late wife Phyllis J. Black.
He is pre-deceased by his wife Phyllis Black in 2017, one daughter, Lisa Black in 2013 and one sister, Mary Angela Kust.
He is survived by one daughter, Louise Black of Bloomsbury, NJ; one son, James Black of Dalton, GA. NJ; three grandchildren, Zackary Black and Olivia Black; and Brandon Kerr, all of Fort Myers, FL; one sister, Julie Collings of Winnipeg, Canada and several nieces and nephews.
Cremation services will be held privately under the direction of the Holcombe-Fisher Funeral Home, 147 Main Street, Flemington, NJ. A memorial service will be held Saturday, January 6, 2024 at 2 pm at Bethlehem Presbyterian Church in Pittstown NJ.
