Rev. Linn J. Creighton

The Reverend Linn J. Creighton, age 91 years, of Kennett Square, PA, died on Tuesday, July 29, 2008.

Born in China, June 7, 1917, he was the son of the late Roy and Clara Linn Creighton. He had formerly resided in Flemington, NJ, until moving to Kennett Square, PA fifteen years ago.

He was educated in China, Turkey, and Lebanon and graduated from Phillips Andover Academy, Harvard University with a degree in Classics, and the Union Theological Seminary, New York City. He also received two Theological degrees, including a Th. D. from Princeton Seminary.

He was a United States Navy veteran of World War II, serving in Naval Intelligence.

He was first an Associate pastor at the Caldwell Presbyterian Church, Caldwell, NJ, and then served as Senior Pastor at the Flemington Presbyterian Church from 1949 until his retirement in 1982.

After retirement, Rev. Creighton was the author of three books.

Surviving are his wife of sixty-two years, Lois Glover Creighton; a daughter, Patricia Kaminski of High Bridge, NJ; a brother, Roger Creighton of Albany, NY; a sister, Phyllis Danby of Kennett Square, PA; two grandchildren; and one great-grandson, and a sister-in-law, Patricia Barnett- Brubaker of Mitchellville, MD.

A Memorial Service will be held on Saturday, September 13, 2008, at 2 PM in the Flemington Presbyterian Church, Flemington, NJ, under the direction of the Holcombe-Fisher Funeral Home, 147 Main Street, Flemington, NJ. Interment will be private in Clifford Valley Cemetery, Clifford, PA. There will be no calling hours.
