Reverend Father Patrick Maccarone, age 71 years, of Methuen, MA and Las Vegas, NV, died on Friday, June 13, 2008 in the Lawrence General Hospital, Lawrence, MA.
Born and raised in Lawrence, he was the son of the late Pasquale and Clelia (Conti) Maccarone.
Following his graduation from Holy Rosary School in Lawrence and La Mennais Preparatory School in Canton, Father Maccarone studied education at Mount St. Bernard College in Sorel, Quebec and Temple University in Philadelphia. Father Maccarone served as a President and CEO of several New Jersey corporations and was a founding partner of Southern State Bank of New Jersey. Deciding to become a priest, Father Maccarone earned a Master's of Divinity Degree from Blessed Pope John XXIII National Seminary, Weston, and was ordained by Bishop Edward T. Hughes on May 25, 1991 in St. Francis of Assisi Cathedral, Metuchen, NJ.
Father Maccarone has served as parochial vicar at St. James Parish in Woodbridge, NJ, St. Celia Parish, Monmouth Junction, NJ and St. Magdalen de Pazzi Parish, Flemington, NJ. He also ministered at Our Lady of Lourdes Parish, Whitehouse Station, NJ and Sacred Heart of Jesus Parish of South Plainfield, NJ as well as Administrator of St. Ann Parish , Raritan, NJ. In 2000, Father Maccarone received permission to minister in the Diocese of Las Vegas. He retired November 23, 2002 and currently resided in Las Vegas, NV and Massachusetts.
The family of Father Maccarone wish to express a special thank you to Dr. Lawrence Kidd, Dr. Rami Rustum and the nursing staff at the Lawrence General Hospital on Unit R4 for their exceptional care during his illness.
Survivng him are four sisters, Florence DiBenedetto of Lawrence, Isabella Consoli and her husband, Mario of Methuen, Anna Maria Maccarone of Methuen and Angela Lebel of Methuen; four brothers, Benedetto Maccarone of Lawrence, Albert Maccarone and his wife, Camille of Needham and Joseph Maccarone and his wife Madeline of Salem, NH; Several nieces, nephews, grandnieces and grandnephews. He was also brother of the late Anthony Maccarone.
