Richard A. Smith

Richard A. Smith, age 93 years, of Lebanon Township, NJ, died Thursday, August 29, 2019 at his son’s home surrounded by his loving family. Born in Newark, NJ, February 22, 1926, son of the late John Russell and Elizabeth Lake Krauss Smith, he had formerly resided in Union, NJ, and Reaville, NJ. A United States Merchant Marine Veteran, Richard worked as a pharmaceutical research technician for Bristol-Myers Squibb. In addition to being a loving father, grandfather and great-grandfather, he was an avid farmer and singer. Richard was the best guide a family could have, always there to provide and care for them. He will be missed, but the world has been a better place because of him. Surviving are his son, Gregory Smith and his wife, Linda Frances Smith of Hampton, NJ; two grandchildren, Thor Matthew Smith and his wife, Amanda A. and Ian Daniel Smith and his wife, Brandi M.; great-grandchildren, Gregory Matthew Smith, II, Cassidy Lynn Jacey Smith, Emma Grace Smith, Odin Aarick James Smith, and Travis Michael Smith. He was pre-deceased by two sisters, Ruth Smith and Eleanor Delany. Cremation services will be private under the direction of the Holcombe-Fisher Funeral Home, 147 Main Street, Flemington, NJ.
