Richard D. Goodell, Jr., age 91 years, of Flemington, NJ, died Friday, June 6, 2014, at his home.
Born in Locktown, NJ, May 8, 1923, son of the late Richard D. and Laura Eick Goodell, Sr., he had resided in the Flemington area all his life.
He was an Army Air Corps veteran of World War 2, serving 1942-1945. He was an aerial gunner with the Fifteenth Air Force in Italy and in Africa. Dick was a great cook, avid golfer, enjoyed Atlantic City and time with friends.
A graduate of Flemington High School, Dick was a life member of Copper Hill Country Club; the Flemington American Legion Post #159; Flemington Veterans of Foreign Wars Post #7856 and Flemington Elks Lodge #1928.
He retired from the Hunterdon County Roads & Bridges Dept. in 1985.
His wife, Rita Goodell, died in 1975.
Surviving are his children, Peter Goodell of Flemington, NJ: Tonimarie Lisi and her husband, Peter, of Raritan Township, NJ; and Dr. Lauri Ann Goodell and her spouse, Susan Razzano of East Brunswick, NJ. Also surviving are his grandchildren, Gregory Lisi, Angela Lisi, Christopher Lisi and Anna Razzano-Goodell; a sister, Jean Slattery of Bethlehem, PA. and a brother, William Goodell of Flemington, NJ.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Wednesday, June 11, 2014, at 10:00 AM in St. Magdalen Church, 105 Mine Street, Flemington, NJ. Interment will be in St. Magdalen Cemetery, Flemington, NJ, under the direction of the Holcombe-Fisher Funeral Home, 147 Main Street, Flemington, NJ. There will be no calling hours. Memorial contributions may be made to Flemington Area Food Pantry, PO Box 783, Flemington, NJ 08822.
