Richard D. Mannon, age 93 years, of Raritan Township, NJ, died Monday, September 7, 2020, at his home, East Lynne Farm.
A lifelong resident of the Flemington area, Dick was born in Trenton, NJ, October 17, 1926, son of the late Russell and Helen Bourgart Mannon.
He was a US Navy veteran of World War II and served in the Asiatic Pacific Theatre of Operations during the Philippine Liberation.
For sixty-seven years, Dick was a longtime Flemington area businessman. He owned and operated Mannon Excavating & Paving Company, Rich-Hil Transportation, R&H Truck Parts and Service, Flemington Bituminous Corp., and East Lynne Farm.
Dick loved Standardbred racehorses and raced them over forty years. He was a member of the 200 Club; Flemington Elks Lodge #1928; Flemington American Legion Post 159; and the US Trotting Association. He was active in his support of the Round Valley Youth Center and was a member of the Flemington Presbyterian Church.
His wife of sixty-eight years, Hilda Ruple Mannon, died in December of 2018, and his sister, Lucie Sheets, died in 2010.
Surviving are four daughters and three sons-in-law, Dianna and Matteo Liberto of Flemington, NJ, Vivian Mannon of Chelan, WA, Kathleen and Dean Holcombe of Milford, NJ and Brenda and Joseph Patnick of Stewartsville, NJ; eight grandchildren, Mathew Liberto and his wife, Erin, Brian Liberto and his wife, Marin, Caitlyn Liberto, C. Ashley Holcombe, Allyson Holcombe, Amanda Kania and her husband, Brandon, Tara Boszczuk and Tammy Boszczuk; and his three great grandchildren, Cecilia Liberto, Abigail Liberto and Matteo Liberto.
All welcome: There will be a drive-by memorial held on Friday from 4:00 PM-7:00 PM at East Lynne Farm, 173 River Road, Raritan Township, NJ. Visitors will have the opportunity to drive around the East Lynne Farm horse track to pay their respects.
There will be a calling hour on Saturday, September 12, 2020, at 11:00 AM- 12:00 PM, at East Lynne Farm, 173 River Road, Raritan Township, NJ. Funeral services will follow at 12:00 PM at the same location. Interment will follow in Union Cemetery, Ringoes, NJ, under the direction of the Holcombe-Fisher Funeral Home, 147 Main Street, Flemington, NJ. Mask wearing will be mandatory.
