Richard "Doug" Mutz

Richard D. “Doug” Mutz, age 81 years, of Raritan Township, NJ passed away the morning of December 7, 2022, at his home surrounded by his loving family.

Born in Hackensack, NJ, December 27, 1940, he was the son of the late George and Irene (Newman) Mutz. He grew up in Bergenfield, NJ and had also previously resided in Plainfield, North Plainfield, and Hillsborough, NJ. In 1999, he and his family purchased property in Raritan Township, NJ and have owned a farm there ever since.

As a young man, he served in the United States Air Force from 1962-1965, obtaining the rank of Lieutenant, before being honorably discharged.

Doug then worked for forty-six years as an Allstate insurance agent. After retiring, he drove for Uber, something he thoroughly enjoyed! Additionally, he was an extremely loquacious person and could talk to you about everything under the sun. Doug enjoyed watching football, rooting for the San Francisco 49ers. Doug also had a love for the beach. In fact, since 1978, he and family had spent summers vacationing at their beach house in Beach Haven, NJ.

The eldest of five siblings, Doug was predeceased by his brother, Larry Mutz, who died in June of 2022. Surviving are his beloved wife of 46 years, Anne C. (Glynn) Mutz, of Raritan Township, NJ; his three children, Laura Mutz (Tim) of Beach Haven, NJ, R. Doug Mutz, Jr. (Ellie) of Viera, FL, and Sara Feliciano (John) of Raritan Township, NJ; four grandchildren: Zack, Colin, Luke, and Logan; as well as his siblings, Donald Mutz, Patricia Campanile, and Barbara Mutz.

A celebration of his life, with military honors, will take place in the summer of 2023 in Beach Haven, NJ. Date and times are to be announced .
