Richard E. Yard, Sr.

Richard E. Yard, Sr., age 88 years, of Delaware Township, NJ, died Wednesday, March 24, 2021, at his home.

Born in Sand Brook, Delaware Township, NJ, son of the late Elmer R. and Sarah Case Yard, he had resided in Delaware Township all his life.

Dick was a 1950 graduate of Flemington High School and was a talented musician in high school and after graduation played in dance bands in the area for several years.

A workaholic, Dick was a farmer, chemical foreman and bus driver. One of the original seven school bus drivers for Hunterdon Central Regional High School, Flemington, NJ, he only retired from that employment two years ago after sixty-three years of driving for the high school. He was also previously employed by Tenneco Chemicals, Ethyl-Visqueen Corp. and Aaron & Co. Plumbing Supplies.

Formerly active in several masonic organizations, he was member and Past Master of Darcy Lodge #37, F & AM of Flemington, NJ; member and Past High Priest of Clinton Chapter #37 of Royal Arch Masons, Flemington, NJ and the Tall Cedars of Lebanon of Hunterdon County.

He was pre-deceased by a sister, Marie Lahey.

Surviving are his wife of sixty-five years, Marjorie Mannon Yard; four children, Lawrence Yard and his wife, Arlene, Donna Yard, Cheryl Evans and Richard Yard, Jr. and his wife Lisa; fourteen grandchildren, Ryan Kadezabek, Brittney Kadezabek, Jeffrey Christie, Melissa Lombardi, Christina Yard, Katelyn Gryzeski, Harry Opdyke, Michael Opdyke, Amber Opdyke, Ashley Griem, Christopher Evans, Courtney LaRowe, Richard Yard, III and Mckayla Yard; sixteen great-grandchildren and a sister, Marjorie Lovenberg, of Cincinnati, OH.

A visitation will be held on Friday, April 9, 2021 from 5:00-6:45 PM in the Holcombe-Fisher Funeral Home, 147 Main Street, Flemington, NJ, followed by a Masonic Service at 6:45 PM and then a Memorial Service at 7:00 PM at the funeral home.
