Richard G. Hattauer

November 18, 1925 — August 25, 2020

Richard G. Hattauer, age 94 years, of Raritan Township, NJ, died Tuesday, August 25, 2020, at Hunterdon Care Center, Raritan Township, NJ.

Born in New York City, November 18, 1925, son of the late Charles and Elizabeth Grey Hattauer, he had formerly resided in Manhasset, LI, later in Chappaqua, NY and had resided in Raritan Township for ten years.

A graduate of Columbia University, he was employed by AT&T for thirty-one years where he was Manager of Long Line Circuits.

He was a US Navy veteran of World War 2 serving 1944-1946.

Richard was formerly road manager for the Count Basie Band during the late 1940’s and was an avid baseball fan, especially the New York Yankees. An avid train buff, he was a former Boy Scout leader and loved fly fishing in northern Michigan where he vacationed for many years.

His wife of fifty-two years, Jean Carlson Hattauer, died in 2012.

Surviving are two sons and daughters-in-law, Richard and Anna Hattauer of Monrovia, MD and Jim and Frances Hattauer of Flemington, NJ; four grandchildren, Richard Hattauer III, Christopher, Elizabeth and Rachel Hattauer; and one great granddaughter, Lillian.

Services and interment will be private under the direction of the Holcombe-Fisher Funeral Home, 147 Main Street, Flemington, NJ.
