Richard G. Shallop, age 72 years, of Milford, NJ, died on Thursday, December 16, 2010 at his home.

Born in the Bronx, NY, June 20, 1938, he was the son of the late Chester and Virginia Reich Shallop. He had resided in Milford, NJ since 1992, and had formerly resided in Flemington, NJ and Jackson, NJ.

He was a graduate of New York University with a degree in finance and served in the United States Army from 1957-1959. He was formerly employed by Eaton Corporation, then was Director of Information Systems for Digital Equipment Company and later for American Friends Service Committee, Philadelphia, PA.

A son, Alexander Shallop, died in 2007. Surviving are his wife of thirty years, Janet Yasunas Shallop; three daughters, Christa Purz of Hammondsport, NY, Barbara Durkin of Newtown, PA, and Elaine Babino of Staten Island, NY; four sons, Steven Shallop of Califon, NJ, Gregory Shallop of Washington, NJ, and Richard Shallop of Porter Ranch, CA, and Christopher Shallop of Fort Bragg, NC; two brothers, Frank Shallop and Paul Shallop, both of the Bronx, NY; a sister, Joan Shallop, of Manalapan, NJ; and seventeen grandchildren.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Monday at 10 AM in St. Edward The Confessor Church, 61 Mill Street, Milford, NJ. Interment will be in Locust Grove Cemetery, Quakertown, NJ. Calling hours will be held on Sunday from 2-4 and 7-9 PM in the Holcombe-Fisher Funeral Home, 147 Main Street, Flemington, NJ.

Memorial contributions may be made to Hunterdon Hospice or to the Hunterdon Regional Cancer Center, 2100 Wescott Drive, Flemington, NJ 08822.
