Richard J. Stryker, age 87 years, formerly of Flemington, NJ and High Bridge, NJ, died Saturday, March 6, 2021, at All American Assisted Living at Hillsborough.
Richard was born June 16, 1933 in Flemington, NJ, son of the late Samuel and Alice Cole Stryker and had resided in High Bridge for fifty-one years until moving to Hillsborough over a year ago.
An electrician, he was employed by Hoescht-Celanese Corp. (now Bayer Agfa Corp) until he retired.
Richard was a member of Darcy Lodge #37, F & A M of Flemington, NJ and was also a member of the National Rifle Association.
An avid gun collector and dealer, he loved antiques, was a huge cat lover, and had a large collection of antique stationary engines.
Richard was pre-deceased by his brother, Pfc Charles Stryker, who was killed in action in 1951 during the Korean War, and also by his two sisters, Thelma Bognar and Dale Burmell. In addition, he was pre-deceased by his children, Scott Stryker, Richard Stryker and Linda Stryker.
Surviving are two sons, Charles S. Stryker of Median, OH and David Stryker of Quakertown, PA; three grandchildren, Mark Stryker, Christopher Stryker and James Plampin; two great grandchildren, Abigail Stryker and Julia Stryker; and two nieces and one nephew.
Funeral services will be held Wednesday, March 10, 2021, at 11:00 AM in the Holcombe-Fisher Funeral Home, 147 Main Street, Flemington, NJ. Interment will be in Readington Cemetery, Readington, NJ. Calling hours will be Wednesday 10:00 AM – 11:00 AM at the funeral home. Darcy Lodge will conduct Masonic Services Wednesday at 10:45 AM at the funeral home.
