Richard R. Kopp, 79, died at his home on Thursday, April 7, 2011 where he had resided the past fifty-two years. Born on June 10, 1931 in Sumin, Poland, Richard was a son of Christian and Emma Bonar Kopp.

After spending his childhood years in Europe during World War II, Richard obtained his immigration papers and set sail for America on a WWII converted troop transport ship on July 4, 1949. Twelve days later, he began work at his first job in America, making deliveries for a Jackson Heights, NY delicatessen. In 1951, Richard enlisted in the U.S. Air Force, where he served in the 7057th Air Intelligence Squadron in Bad Soden, Germany until 1955.

Richard spent most of his career at RCA Corporation as a computer operator. He retired in 1989. He was a charter member of St. Paul Lutheran Church in Flemington, NJ, and most recently an active member of Spruce Run Lutheran Church in Glen Gardner, NJ.

Richard was an avid gardener and landscaper and had experience raising fruits and vegetables of all kinds.

Richard is survived by his beloved wife of fifty years, Susan Kessel Kopp; two daughters, Linda Kopp, of South Salem, NY, and Sherry Kopp Wright, of Lambertville, NJ; a son, Richard J. Kopp, of Raphine, VA; eight grandchildren; and a vast extended family. He was predeceased by seven brothers and sisters.

Funeral Services will be held Monday at 10:00 a.m. in Spruce Run Lutheran Church, 442 West Hill Road, Glen Gardner, NJ 08829 under the direction of the Holcombe-Fisher Funeral Home, 147 Main Street, Flemington, NJ. Interment will follow in Locust Grove Cemetery, Quakertown, NJ. Calling hours will be Sunday from 2:00-4:00 and 7:00-9:00 p.m. in the Funeral Home.
