Richard S. Cook, age 83 years, of Franklin Township, Hunterdon County, NJ, died on Saturday, June 12, 2004 at his residence. Born in Philadelphia, PA, April 11, 1921, son of the late William Sommers Cook and Helen Sherrard Cook, he had resided most of his life in Philadelphia, PA, before moving to Franklin Township, NJ ten years ago.

He was a research chemist with Rohm & Haas, Bristol, PA, retiring in 1987. He was a graduate of the Philadelphia College of Pharmacy and Science, and received his M.S. degree from Temple University. He was a United States Army veteran of World War II. He was a member of the following: The American Chemical Society, The New York Academy of Science, The Temple Chapter of Sigma Xi Society, and was a fellow of the American Institute of Chemists. In addition, he was listed in Who's Who in Science and Who's Who in Technology Today.

His first wife, Elizabeth Howard Cook, died in 1992, and his second wife, Doris Murta Cook, died in 1996. A son, Bradford Cook, also died earlier. Surviving are two daughters: Maeve Pambianchi, of Franklin Township, NJ;, and Gail Cockburn, of Wildwood, NJ; five sons: Stephen Cook, of Upper Black Eddy, PA, David Cook, of Kintnersville, PA, Bruce Cook, of Pittsburgh, PA, Scott Cook, of Doylestown, PA, and Andrew Allen, of Springtown, PA; eighteen grandchildren, and six great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will take place Thursday at 10:30 a.m. in the Holcombe-Fisher Funeral Home, 147 Main Street, Flemington, NJ. Call on Thursday from 9:30-10:30 a.m. at the funeral home.
