Richard Tracy Dilley, age 87, died Wednesday, April 8, 2020 at JFK Medical Center in Edison NJ.
Richard was born on March 29, 1933 in Dunellen, NJ, the son of the late Raymond Ten Eyck Dilley and Lois Mae Mattison Dilley.
Richard was a veteran of the US Army from 1953 - 1956 and served in the Army Security Agency (ASA) in Korea and Japan during the Korean war. During his service, Richard earned the National Defense Service Medal, Korean Service Medal, United Nations Service Medal and the Good Conduct Medal.
Richard married his wife, Claire Anne, in 1960. The couple moved to Flemington, NJ in 1962, where they lived until Claire's death in 2016. Richard worked as a salesman most of his life, most recently for Stryker's Paint Store in Flemington until his retirement in 2006. Richard enjoyed collecting many things, including books and coins. He also enjoyed camping and traveled throughout the eastern US and Canada in his Caveman Camper when his children were young.
He and Claire especially enjoyed trips to Skyline Drive and Williamsburg, VA, Cape May, NJ and Longwood Gardens in PA. Locally, they enjoyed eating at diners and took frequent drives "down to see the river" and to walk across the foot bridge at Bulls Island State Park. Richard was also a member of the American Legion and supported many charities, especially those for children.
He is survived by his daughter, Cassandren M. Delley of Califon, NJ, his son, Alan Dilley and wife, Karen, of Quakertown, NJ, his daughter, Robin C. Drumbore and husband, Dave, of Alpha, NJ and his daughter, Leigh Erin LoRicco and husband, John, of Arnold, MD. He is also survived by his three grandsons, Dylan J. Apple, Tanner B. Apple and Richard T. Dilley; as well as his granddaughter, Autumn C. Sinai and her husband, Mike.
