Richard W. Bryers, age 74 years, of Readington Township, NJ, died on Sunday, November 27, 2005 at his residence.

Born in the Bronx, NY, October 17, 1931, he was the son of the late Harold and Mildred Goering Bryers. He had resided in Readington Township since 1976.

He was a mechanical engineer with Foster-Wheeler Corporation, Livingston, NJ, retiring in 1995. He received his B.S. in Mechanical Engineering from Lehigh University, and his M.S. from the Newark College of Engineering. He is the holder of several patents; was the editor of several engineering books; ran several conferences for the Engineering Foundation, and the American Society of Mechanical Engineers, and received the Percy Nichols Award for Outstanding Scientific Achievement from the American Society of Mechanical Engineers.

He was a United States Army veteran, serving from 1955-1957.

He was a toy maker for Golden Talents, Flemington, NJ. He was a talented oil painter, photographer, and nature enthusiast.

He is survived by his wife, Margaret (Peggy) Bryers; a daughter, Susan Bryers, of Denver, CO; two sons, Gary Bryers, of Ridgeway, SC, and Glenn Bryers, of Kenai, AK; and three grandchildren.

Memorial services will be held on Saturday at 2 PM in the Holcombe-Fisher Funeral Home, 147 Main Street, Flemington, NJ. Interment will be private. There will be no calling hours.

Memorial contributions may be made to either Hunterdon Hospice, or the Hunterdon Regional Cancer Center, both at 2100 Wescott Drive, Flemington, NJ 08822.
