Rita J. Lucas, age 84 years, of Ringoes, NJ, died on Tuesday, April 10, 2007, in the Hunterdon Medical Center, Raritan Township, NJ.

Born in Flemington, NJ, April 24, 1922, she was the daughter of the late Peter and Mary Foley Muller. She was a lifelong resident of Hunterdon County.

She was employed by Flemington Fur Company for over twenty-five years. She was a graduate of Flemington High School.

She was a Communicant of St. Magdalen Church, Flemington, NJ, and a member of the Rosary Altar Society. A former Gray Lady, she was a volunteer with the American Red Cross, and enjoyed shopping and traveling with her family and friends.

Her husband, Stephen J. Lucas, died in 1966. She was also pre-deceased by three sisters, Elizabeth Shepherd, Margaret Muller, and Dorothy Gilheany, and a brother, Frank Muller. Surviving are four daughters; Suzanne Lucas of Ringoes, NJ, Patti Cleary ,and husband Frank, of Ewing, NJ, Dot Faherty, and husband Ron, of Ringoes, NJ, and Joan Hanson, and husband Michael, of Ringoes, NJ; a son and daughter-in-law, Stephen and Cindy Bender Lucas, of Rosemont, NJ; six grandchildren; Colin Faherty of Flemington, NJ, Jessica Cleary of Ewing, NJ, Justin Lucas of Flemington, NJ, Lucas Hanson of Pittsburgh, PA, Matthew Hanson of Ringoes, NJ, and Wyatt Lucas of Rosemont, NJ; a great-granddaughter, Juliana Franco of Ewing, NJ; and a sister, Mary McKeon of Easton, PA.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Friday at 10:30 AM in St. Magdalen Church, 105 Mine Street, Flemington, NJ. Interment will be in St. Magdalen Cemetery, Flemington, NJ. Calling hours will be held on Thursday from 5:30 to 8:30 PM in the Holcombe-Fisher Funeral Home, 147 Main Street, Flemington, NJ.
