Robert A. Haug, age 91 years, of Raritan Township, NJ, died on Sunday, September 29, 2013 in Independence Manor, Raritan Township, NJ, where he had resided for the past year.

Born in Newark, NJ, November 5, 1921, son of the late Carl and Edna Haig Haug, he was a fifty-three year resident of Scotch Plains, NJ.

A United States Navy Veteran of Word War II, Mr. Haug was a member of the Seabees and honorably discharged at the rank of Lieutenant in 1956. He then went on to earn his MBA from the University of North Carolina and served most of his career as a Supervisor with Western Electric, Newark, NJ. Upon retiring, he was very involved with the Western Electric Pioneer Club.

Devoted to his family and his community, he organized many fundraisers throughout his life to raise funds for the American Heart Association and also several organizations which served the blind community.

He was preceded in death by his wife of over sixty-five years, Frances Auer Haug in 2012 as well as by two brothers, William and Charles.

Surviving are two daughters and sons-in-law, Darleen and Dennis Manchen, M.D. of Clinton Township, NJ and Daryl and Jay Heddings of Bloomsburg, PA; four grandchildren, Michelle Zgombic, Robert Manchen, Darren Manchen and Fallon Heddings; and two great granddaughters, Emily and Natalie Zgombic.

Funeral Services will take place on Thursday, October 3, 2013 at 11:00 a.m. in the Holcombe-Fisher Funeral Home, 147 Main Street, Flemington, NJ, preceded by visitation from 10:00-11:00 a.m. only.
