Robert Alfred Schneider, age 89, died Monday, February 1, 2021 at his home in Delaware Township NJ. Born October 27, 1931 in Clinton Township NJ, Robert was the son of the late Frank E. and Ida (Smeltzer) Schneider. He married Ruth Hewitt and the two shared 67 years of marriage together. Robert was raised on a farm and enjoyed the farming life. He had his own garden for many years while also working tirelessly for John’s Manville Corporation for 36 years. He loved to go deer hunting or fishing occasionally and enjoyed visiting and chatting with his neighbors and friends. Robert was one of those people that could fix anything mechanical, tinkering with motors and metal were some of his favorite pastimes, as well as watching a favorite TV program. Robert was also an animal lover having many dogs and cats over the years. His last dog, Cookie, will miss him terribly, and she was by his side until his passing. He was a very calm and gentle man and everyone who knew him, loved him. He was a number one father and husband and will never be forgotten. In addition to his parents, Robert is pre-deceased by his brothers, Frank E. Schneider Jr., Charles “Bunny” Schneider, and sisters Eleanor Sahaydak and Lorraine Linico. He is survived by his wife, Ruth Hewitt Schneider, his daughter and son-in-law, Tracy and Richard Maniscalco, his grandchildren, Stephanie Maniscalco, Jessica Maniscalco Pedraza and her husband Frank, Anthony Maniscalco, and his wife Amanda, and Jennifer Maniscalco, as well as four great grandchildren, Kristina, Jackson, Gianna, and Giovanni and several nieces, nephews, and cousins. Due to restrictions related to COVID-19, funeral services and interment in Rosemont Cemetery in Rosemont NJ will be private and under the direction of Holcombe-Fisher Funeral Home, 147 Main Street, Flemington NJ. In lieu of flowers, donations can made to the Amwell Church of the Brethren, 40 Sandbrook Headquarters Rd, Stockton, NJ 08559.
