Robert C. Kren, age 88, died Monday, April 3, 2023 at Kindred Hospital in Dover NJ.
Born January 22, 1935 in Clifton, New Jersey, Bob grew up in Toms River New Jersey. One of the great joys of his younger years was caring for and riding his horse named Wanda. He and a group of his friends would gather every day after school to ride their horses through the fields.
Bob had an incredible work ethic: He graduated from Rutgers University, and then while working and caring for his new family, he also attended Columbia University, receiving a Master’s degree in Urban Planning. He eventually went on to earn a Master's degree in Computer Science and remained passionate about science and technology. Bob was the City Planner for Raritan Township for many years and was well-known in the Flemington community.
Bob loved to travel, and while he visited and loved many places such as Hawaii and the Mediterranean, his favorite was always Yellowstone National Park, which he first visited on his honeymoon. Bob continued to spend time outdoors whenever he could and spent many weekends and vacations camping with his family, continuing to gravitate back to Yellowstone and the west. Even in his later years, his love of the outdoors was always evident in the care that he gave to his yard, planting many flowering trees that are all in bloom right now.
Bob was predeceased by his wife, Eleanor (Zabel) Kren , and his parents, Charles and Anna (Ruda) Kren, He will be missed by his daughter, Laurie Ann (Jim) Kolano, his son, Robert (Terry) Kren, his two granddaughters, Melissa Kolano and Kelly (PJ) Nagle, his four grandsons, James Kolano, Matthew Kren, Tyler Kren, and Daniel Kolano, and his great-grandson, Charlie Nagle . He is also survived by his sister, Maryann Conan.
Graveside services, in the outdoors that he loved, will be held at 11:00 am on Thursday, April 13, 2023 at Saint Magdalen Cemetery, 94 N. Main Street in Flemington. Funeral arrangements are under the direction of Holcombe-Fisher Funeral Home, 147 Main Street, Flemington NJ 08822.
