Robert F. Knight

Robert F. Knight, age 91 years, of Raritan Township, NJ, died on Saturday, May 23, 2009 in the Hunterdon Care Center, Raritan Township, NJ.

Born in Utica, NY, May 28, 1917, son of the late Foster James and Alice Houck Knight, he had formerly resided in Pittstown, NJ as well as Readington Township, NJ.

A United States Army veteran of World War II, Mr. Knight was a Senior Lab Technician with Exxon Corporation, Linden, NJ, retiring in 1973.

He was a longtime member of the Clinton United Methodist Church, Clinton, NJ and was also a member of the Senior Bowling League, Frenchtown, NJ.

His wife, Ethel Schmermund Knight, died in 2008 and a son, Robert H. Knight, died in 2001.

Surviving are two daughters, Carol Ann Gautier of St. Petersburg, FL and Margaret A. Peterson of Flemington, NJ; a son, Thomas A. Knight of Nutley, NJ; a brother, Foster G. Knight in NY; three sisters, Margaret Arthur of Utica, NY, Esther Mitchell in NC and Priscilla Lehman of New Hartford, NY; eight grandchildren; and six great grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held Friday at 10:00 a.m. in the Holcombe-Fisher Funeral Home, 147 Main Street, Flemington, NJ. Interment will follow in Rosedale Cemetery, Linden, NJ.
