Robert J. Conlon, age 79, died Friday, October 20, 2023 at Morristown Memorial Medical Center in Morristown NJ.
Born April 21, 1944 in Jersey City NJ, Bob was the son of the late James and Katherine (Lau) Conlon.
Bob served his country in the United States Army during the Vietnam War from 1965 to 1967.
Bob worked at BASF, his last position was Director of Security and Information Resources. He moved on to work at various financial institutions as Vice-President of Business Continuity. In addition, he worked at Mount Sinai Hospital in New York as a leader and subject matter expert in Data Centers with a specialty in Business Continuity. Finally, he was employed as Director of Security at Mount Saint Mary Academy, Watchung, NJ.
Bob enjoyed a good sporting event and was a very loyal Chicago Bears and New York Yankees Fan. He loved 50’s music and dancing the two-step and the twist!
He loved to travel and experience different cultures. Bob was very proud of being an Irish-American and his favorite trip was visiting Ireland. He also had a passion for the beach where it always brought much joy, especially with trips to the Caribbean. While there, along with his wife, he loved to snorkel and take boat rides. He also loved movies of all kinds and enjoyed going to the movies and having popcorn!
Bob also loved animals of all kinds and adored his pets, Bailey, Bianca and Willow. Most importantly, Bob always maintained a great sense of humor that helped carry him through his battles with cancer. His strength and continued positive outlook were felt by those that were fortunate enough to know him and will miss him dearly.
In addition to his parents, Bob was pre-deceased by his brother, Don Conlon. He is survived by his loving wife, Ida (DiCataldo) Conlon, his son and daughter-in-law, Sean and Stephanie Conlon of Pittsburgh PA, his daughter and son-in-law, Heather and John Molnar of St. Charles IL, his four granddaughters, Riley, Olivia, Finley, and Lauren, his grandson, Hunter, his sister, Pat Otersen of Brick, NJ, as well as his dear friend, Jeanette Crandall and family.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11:30 AM on Friday, November 10, 2023 at St. Magdalen Church, 105 Mine Street, Flemington NJ 08822. Interment with Military Honors will follow in Washington Crossing National Cemetery in Newtown PA. There are no visitation hours.
