Robert J. Struening, age 78 years, of Brick, NJ, passed peacefully on Friday, April 1, 2011, in Ocean Medical Center, Brick, NJ.
Born in Irvington, NJ, January 25, 1933, he was the son of the late Andrew and Barbara Struening.
He was a 1951 graduate of Clinton High School and as United States Army veteran of the Korean War, serving from 1953-1955.
Mr. Struening worked and once owned the family business, Country Grill Tavern, in Clinton, NJ for twenty years. After leaving the family business, he worked as a machine operator at RCA, Somerville, NJ for eighteen years. After retirement, he truly enjoyed his life at the beach.
He was pre-deceased by a brother, Andy Struening. Surviving are three sons, Robert Struening of Flemington, NJ; Dirk Struening and his wife Pam of Ringoes, NJ, and Craig Struening of Atlanta, GA; four grandchildren: Robert Struening III, Cody B. Struening, Amanda E. Struening, and Eric B. Struening; and his beloved companion of twelve years, Shirley Molnar of Clinton, NJ, and many nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Memorial Services will be announced at a later date. Interment will be private under the direction of the Holcombe-Fisher Funeral Home, 147 Main Street, Flemington, NJ.
