Robert J. Whipple

May 7, 1975 — October 24, 2022

Robert “Bob” J. Whipple, age 47 years, of Lambertville, NJ passed away on October 24, 2022 at his home in the arms of his beloved wife and surrounded by his loving family. Born in Belleville, NJ, May 7, 1975, he was the son of the late Robert G. Whipple and Patricia (Carolan) Whipple. Bob bravely fought one of the rarest cancers in the world, Glioblastoma, for 17 months with the help of the wonderful doctors at the NeuroOncology division of Columbia University. Bob approached his diagnosis head-on, always with a determined mindset and smile on his face.

Bob grew up in Randolph, NJ and graduated from Randolph High School, where he was a standout athlete and captain of the football team. He went on to attend Villanova University as a biology major and was an active social member of the Alpha Phi Delta fraternity. This began a life-long love of his alma mater, and enthusiastically following the basketball program. Bob went on to receive his MBA from Temple University.

Bob started his 25-year career in sales at Merck in 1997 and went on to hold a variety of marketing and promotional positions, creating lifelong friendships and meeting his future wife, Johnelle.

Aside from his busy professional career, he also took the time to volunteer and be active in his community. This included being a part of the Big Brothers and Big Sisters of Bucks County, PA, Boy Scouts of America and serving as a church board member of St. Martin of Tours Roman Catholic Church, New Hope, PA. Additionally, he prided himself on being an expert basement remodeler and gardener around his property.

However, most importantly, he was a wonderful family man and father to his children. He coached his son in basketball, baseball, and football youth sports in Lambertville, NJ as well as being an active dance “dad” for his daughter’s ballet program. Bob also enjoyed traveling to various destinations throughout his life with his family. Above all, he just enjoyed spending time with those he loved. He will be missed by all who knew him.

He is survived by his beloved wife of nineteen years, Johnelle R. Whipple and his two children, Brendan John and Julia Grace. He is also survived by his mother, Patricia Whipple, stepfather, James Dickover, his sister, Melissa, and her husband John Gregorek, his half-brother Matthew; and many loving aunts, uncles, nephews, and cousins.

A visitation will be held from 2-4 PM and 5-7 PM on Friday, October 28 in the Holcombe-Fisher Funeral Home, 147 Main Street, Flemington, NJ. A Mass of Christian Burial will follow the next day at 11:00 AM on Saturday, October 29 at St. Martin of Tours Roman Catholic Church, 1 Riverstone Circle, New Hope, PA.
