Robert S. Halien, Sr.

Robert S. Halien, Sr., age 88 years, of King George, VA, died on Thursday, November 20, 2008 at his residence in King George, where he had resided for the past two years.

Born in Englewood, NJ, May 7, 1920, son of the late Olaf P. and Elin Selander, he had formerly resided in Flemington, NJ from 1974-1994 and then in Hackettstown, NJ for twelve years prior to moving to Virginia.

Mr. Halien was a graduate of New York University and was formerly Credit Manager with Diamond Shamrock Chemical Company, Morristown, NJ, retiring in 1985.

A United States Army Verteran of World War II, he was a member of the Flemington Baptist Church, Flemington, NJ.

His wife, Mary Bradley Halien, died in 1985.

Surviving are two sons, Robert E. Halien, Jr. of Bristol, NH and W. Bradley Halien of Hackettstown, NJ; a daughter, Ellen Herdemian of King George, VA; a sister, Mona Surdez of Wyckoff, NJ; five grandchildren; and two great grandchildren.

Funeral Services will be held on Monday at 11 AM in the Holcombe-Fisher Funeral Home, 147 Main Street, Flemington, NJ. Interment will be in Prospect Hill Cemetery, Flemington, NJ. Calling hours will be held on Sunday from 4-7 PM in the funeral home.
