Roderick S. Powell, age 65 years, of Union Township, Hunterdon County, NJ, died on Thursday, June 2, 2005, in the Hunterdon Medical Center, Raritan Township, NJ.
Born in New York City, NY, May 11, 1940, he was the son of the late John and Elizabeth Burns Powell.
He had formerly resided in Delaware Township, NJ, and Washington, NJ.
A retired school administrator, serving the South Bound Brook Elementary Schools, the Tewksbury School System and the Harmony Township School System, amongst other districts, Mr. Powell was currently a computer teacher at ESC School, Raritan Township, NJ.
He was a graduate of Davis & Elkins College, Elkins, WV, and he received his Master's Degree from Trenton State College, Ewing, NJ.
Mr. Powell was a United States Navy veteran and an avid race car and antique car enthusiast. He was a member, Eucharistic Minister, and former Vestryman at the Church of the Holy Spirit, Lebanon, NJ.
He is survived by a daughter, Elizabeth Robinson, of West Amwell Township, NJ; a son, Jason Powell, of Brooklyn, NY; a sister, Nancy Beaver, of Waterford, VA; and two grandchildren, Lukas and Kate Robinson.
Memorial services will be held on Tuesday at 11 AM in the Church of the Holy Spirit, Haytown Road, Lebanon, NJ. Interment will be in the Church Memorial Garden. Calling hours will be held on Monday from 2-4 and 7-9 PM in the Holcombe-Fisher Funeral Home, 147 Main Street, Flemington, NJ.
