Ronald Gary Leese

Ronald G. Leese, DMD, age 72, died Monday, March 25, 2024 at his home in Raritan Township.

Born February 14, 1952 in Trenton NJ, Ron was the son of the late Richard and Olga (Konenzny) Leese. He and his two brothers were raised in Lawrenceville NJ, where he played on the Lawrence High School basketball team.

After high school, Ron served as an Artillery and Fire Direction Control Specialist in the United States Army during the Vietnam War. Following his honorable discharge in 1972, he continued his service in the NJ Army National Guard for five years.

Ron graduated from LaSalle University and the College of New Jersey with a Bachelors Degree in Biology and Chemistry. He then completed his MBA in Finance with Rider University and his D.M.D. from the University of Medicine & Dentistry of NJ in Newark NJ. Ron was in private practice in North Brunswick NJ for 37 years. As a result of his love for helping people, after retirement from his private practice, he continued to work as an implant specialist, most recently for Eastern Dental of Ewing.

Ron absolutely loved the outdoors – whether it was playing a round of golf as a member of Stanton Ridge Country Club in Readington Township, taking a hike, or taking immaculate care of his home. As a lover of dogs, he spent many hours playing with his four-legged companion, Honeybear, a Yellow Labrador that gave him so much pleasure.

Ron was a season ticket holder and diehard fan of the NY Football Giants, was a skilled blackjack player and enjoyed many trips to the Casino at Wind Creek in Bethlehem PA with his partner of the last seven years, Terry McShane. At one time, the couple spent many weekends at their vacation home in the Catskills. He enjoyed many of the finer things in life – driving a nice vehicle or a good meal, especially Matt’s Red Rooster Grill in Flemington NJ.

Ron had many lifelong friends, many of whom met him as their dentist and then were drawn into his circle and are forever glad to have known him. Most of all, Ron was a larger-than-life person who had the ability to light up the room, have a conversation with anyone and genuinely care for the happiness of others, it is these qualities that will be missed by all who had the pleasure to know him.

In addition to his parents, Ron was predeceased by his two brothers, William (“Bill”) Leese in 2002 and Brian Leese in 2008. He is survived by his partner, Theresa L. McShane, and her son and wife, Chris and Kelly Gulutz, and their children, Alex and Paige, as well as his dog, Honeybear.

A Celebration of Ron's life will be held at 10:00 am on Friday, April 12, 2024 at St. John's Episcopal Church, 158 West High Street, Somerville, NJ 08876.
