Rose E. “Betty” Ewald, age 81 years, a longtime resident of Frenchtown, NJ, died Friday, December 17, 2021, at the Hunterdon Medical Center, Raritan Township, NJ.
Born in Greenville, SC, July 11, 1940 she was the daughter of the late Paul and Rose Schmitz Sisco. Her father was the first pastor of the Calvary Baptist Church, Flemington, NJ.
Betty attended Somerville High School and graduated from Grace Livingston Hill High School and Trinity Bible College, Clearwater, FL.
Betty loved living on the family farm in her youth and worked as an administrative assistant for many years until retiring.
She “loved the Lord” which was her life and also enjoyed her loving family and her pets.
Her husband, Jonathan Dale Ewald, died in 2016 and her son, Stephen Smith, died in 1990.
Surviving are a daughter and son-in-law, Sharon and Peter Ferencze of Flemington, NJ; a son, Larry Smith, Jr. of Inglis, Fl; her brother, Paul Sisco of Mansfield, OH; her sister, Carol Lentine of Calabash, NC; her sister-in-law, Beverly Sisco of Hobe Sound, FL; seven grandchildren and thirteen great grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held Tuesday, December 21, 2021, at 11:00 AM in Clover Hill Reformed Church, Amwell Road, Hillsborough Township, NJ. Interment will follow in Clover Hill Cemetery. Calling hours will be Monday 4:00-6:00 PM at Holcombe-Fisher Funeral Home, 147 Main Street, Flemington, NJ.
