Rose Mildred (Chlup) Zamek, 94, passed away January 31, 2014 at Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital. She was born September 24, 1919 in Vaux Hall, NJ, the daughter of Vascdor (William) and Blanche (Fuchs) Chlup, and sister of Mary (Chlup) Reiter and Helen (Chlup) Mastyk.
Rose spent her childhood years supporting the running of her family’s farm in Hillsborough. A family of all girls, she was strong and hardworking. At the age of 19, she married the handsome farmer down the road, Frank Zamek, Sr. Together they celebrated 50 years of marriage. She and Frank continued the operation of their family farm for decades and then she expanded her working career for 19 years at Lipton in Flemington, NJ.
Rose spent the greater part of 90 years on her farm in Hillsborough. She opened her home to all those hungry and her heart and generosity to anyone in need. She was always the first to lend a hand and a hot meal. Her memorable “Dinner’s ready” phone calls- was a family tradition shared through generations.
Rose loved to write poems and dedicated them to loved ones and special events in her life. She had a passion for reading and was so thankful of the wonderful journeys each book would take her on. Rose took many real life journeys across America with her daughter Marie. She also loved the exotic trips she took around the world with her grand-daughter Barbara.
Rose was a member of the Hillsborough Rockettes dance troop until the age of 92. She loved the companionship and excitement of preparing for performances and competitions.
Another one of Rose's pleasures was the Youth Group from Cloverhill Church singing Christmas carols every year.
Rose was pre-deceased by her husband, Frank Sr. in 1989; a son, John Zamek in 2013 and her sisters, Mary Reiter and Helen Mastyk.
Surviving are two sons, Frank Zamek, Jr. and Steve Zamek, both of Hillsborough; two daughters, Marie Honachefsky of Hillsborough, and Carol Van Derveer of Kernersville, NC. She has thirteen grandchildren, twenty-one great-grandchildren and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
Rose will be deeply missed by all whose lives she has touched.
Memorial services will be held Saturday, February 15, 2014, at 11:00AM in Clover Hill Reformed Church, Amwell Road, Clover Hill, NJ. Interment will be private under the direction of the Holcombe-Fisher Funeral Home, 147 Main Street, Flemington, NJ. There will be no calling hours.
