Ruth E. May

Ruth Elizabeth May, of Branchburg, NJ, passed away on Saturday, July 26, 2014, at Foothill Acres Rehabilitation & Nursing Center in Hillsborough. She was 92.

Ruth was born August 29, 1921 in Irvington, NJ, to Mabel and Hans Manrodt. She cherished her siblings, Mabel Reeves (deceased); Winnie Rommele (deceased); Bill of Florida; Manny and his wife, Josette, of Arlington, VA; Richard (deceased); Bob and his wife, Marian, of Florida; and Don and his wife, Carol, of Highlands, NJ.

Ruth met the love of her life, Leo, at the American Can Company, where they both worked. Just a few months later, they married and moved to Roselle, where they began raising their two boys, Leo, Jr., and John. Ruth and Leo later moved to Branchburg, where they resided until their deaths. Leo predeceased Ruth in 2011.

Ruth was a devoted homemaker. During her retirement, she enjoyed traveling across country and spending time with her family. She was a member of the Church of St. Joseph, Raritan, where she was actively involved in the parish.

Ruth leaves behind two sons, Leo, Jr. of Branchburg; and John and his wife, Mary Jean, of Bridgewater; grandson, Jesse and his wife, Melissa, of Princeton; granddaughter, Nancy, of Bridgewater; and grandson, Eric, also of Bridgewater; four great-grandchildren, Kaitlin, Jonathan, Thomas, and Nicholas, all of Princeton; and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held Tuesday, July 29, 2014, at 11:30 AM in the Holcombe-Fisher Funeral Home, 147 Main Street, Flemington, NJ. Entombment will be in Immaculate Conception Mausoleum, Clinton Township, NJ. Calling hours will be Tuesday 10:30-11:30 AM at the funeral home.
