Ruth L. Smith

Ruth L. Smith, age 81, died, Sunday, August 31, 2014 at Independence Manor in Raritan Township, NJ.

Born October 16, 1932 in Lyndhurst, NJ, daughter of the late Frederick and Helen (Jachowski) Yockman, Ruth was raised in the Spuyten Duyvil section of the Bronx, NY. She married the late Joseph Smith and they moved to Jersey City, NJ, then to Fords, NJ, Kingston, NJ, Malvern, PA, Albuquerque, NM, and for 20 years in Phoenix, AZ.

Ruth was an avid gardener and an animal lover, especially dogs, however, she was very fond of her daughter’s two cats. Raised Catholic, she was a member in recent months of St. Magdalen Church in Flemington, NJ.

Predeceased by her parents and her husband of 63 years, Ruth is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, Paul and Karina Smith of Rio Rancho, NM, her daughter and son-in-law, Gale Smith-Gosser and Bill Gosser of Kingwood Township, and her grandchildren, Dakota Gosser, Tonya, Karydia, Kate and Christen Smith and older brother Robert Yockman of Flemington.

A Memorial Mass will be celebrated at 10:30 am on Saturday, November 1, 2014 at St. Magdalen Church, 105 Mine Street, Flemington, NJ 08822. Funeral arrangements are under the direction of Holcombe-Fisher Funeral Home, 147 Main Street, Flemington, NJ 08822.
