Ruth L. Yamakaitis, age 91, died Wednesday, August 16, 2023 at the Hunterdon Care Center in Raritan Township NJ.
Born August 28, 1931 in Linden NJ, Ruth was the daughter of the late William and Charlotte (Mauer) Young. Living most of her life in Linden, Ruth moved to Raritan Township in 1993 where she has lived since.
Her Catholic faith was very important and for many years Ruth was a Communicant with St. Magdalen Church in Flemington NJ.
Ruth and her late husband, William A. Yamakaitis, enjoyed trips throughout New Jersey and Pennsylvania, especially to Amish country, where they could be found antiquing or taking many family vacations to Cape May and Wildwood, where the Boardwalk was always a favorite destination.
In her free time, Ruth could be found watching a classic movie, completing a good jigsaw puzzle or one of her numerous oil paintings.
In addition to her parents, Ruth was predeceased by her husband, William A. Yamakaitis in 2007, as well as her brother, William A. Young, her sisters, Dorothy McPartland and Eleanor Wagner, and her grandson, Ryan Leonard in 1992. She is survived by her son, Robert W. Yamakaitis of Flemington NJ, and her two daughters and sons-in-law, Ruth C. and A. Rick LeMunyon of Aberdeen NJ, and Susan A. and Douglas Leonard of Conway, SC, as well as her six grandchildren, Colleen F. Yamakaitis, Robert W. Yamakaitis, Jr., Ricky W. LeMunyon, Kristy A. (Joseph) Italiano, Brenden P. Leonard and Cathleen V. Leonard.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11:00 am on Wednesday, August 23, 2023 at St. Magdalen Church, 105 Mine Street, Flemington NJ. Interment will follow in St. Magdalen Cemetery in Flemington. Calling hours will be Tuesday from 4:00 to 6:00 pm and Wednesday morning from 10:00 to 10:30 am at Holcombe-Fisher Funeral Home, 147 Main Street, Flemington NJ 08822.
Memorial contributions in Ruth’s name may be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis TN 38105.
