Salvatore Michael Angelo, Sr., age 91 years, of Flemington Borough, NJ, passed away on Thursday, June 13, 2024, at the Herman E. Kapp Senior Residences, surrounded by his loving family.
Born in Elizabeth, NJ, July 24, 1932, he was the son of the late John and Mary (Ciaccio) Angelo. He had formerly resided in Union, NJ but had lived in Flemington, NJ for the last 13 years.
A tremendous athlete, he went on to play basketball for Mount St. Mary's University, Emmitsburg, MD. In three years, he scored 1,238 career points, and collected 1,334 rebounds, which ranks second in program history for career rebounds. In fact, to this day, he holds the school's single-game record with 34 rebounds against Gettysburg in 1953. He was inducted into their Hall of Fame in 1980 and named to the All-Century Team in 2016, one of only 16 players in over 100 years named.
After receiving his MBA, he was formerly employed as a Hospital Administrator & Executive (CFO, CEO, COO) for several hospital networks, including St. Vincent’s in the Bronx, NY, before his retirement.
In his spare time, he enjoyed reading about history, especially The Civil War, in particular the Battle of Gettysburg, World War 2 mishaps, and most of all, the ancestry of our families. He was an avid sports fan and followed the local New York teams.
In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his older brother Johnny, younger sister Nancy, and younger brother Ronald.
Surviving are his beloved wife of 65 years, Mary (Moscaritolo) Angelo; two sons, Sal, Jr. and John Anthony and their spouses, Stacie and Claire; as well as his grandchildren, Christina, Anthony, Denise and Melissa.
