Salvatore Mannino

Salvatore Mannino, age 68, of Delaware Township, NJ, passed away on Monday, November 16, 2015 at Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital, New Brunswick, NJ. Born in Brooklyn, NY, on February 4, 1947, Sal was the son of the late Salvatore and Josephine (Abbate) Mannino. He was a lifelong resident of Hunterdon County, NJ, and graduated from South Hunterdon Regional High School in 1965. Sal was a veteran of the United States Army, serving from 1966 to 1968. He began his professional career in 1968 as an insurance agent with John Hancock Mutual Life Insurance Company (Boston, MA), and spent his entire 47-year career helping his clients, many of whom became his lifelong friends, plan and prepare for the future. Most recently, he was a Registered Representative with Acorn Financial Services (Livingston, NJ). Over the years, he was recognized for his work with numerous awards. Sal was an avid classic car enthusiast who loved restoring old cars and attending area car shows. He also enjoyed his self-taught hobby of refinishing furniture. He loved his family, had a passion for music and generously gave his time to help others. In addition to his parents, Sal was pre-deceased by two brothers, Anthony Mannino in 1999 and Nunzio (Norman) Mannino in 2010. Surviving are his loving and devoted wife of 44 years, Carol Lynn (Bentley) Mannino; three children and their spouses, Stephanie Mannino and Kevin Harkins of Montclair, NJ, Josephine and John Luster of Silver Spring, MD and Salvatore and Kathleen Mannino of Stockton, NJ; one granddaughter, Siena Mannino; one brother, Fred Mannino of Stockton, NJ; two sisters, Stella Maltese and Connie Soriero, both of Raritan Township, NJ; and aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces and nephews. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Thursday, November 19, 2015, at 10:00 AM in St. Magdalen Church, 105 Mine Street, Flemington, NJ, under the direction of the Holcombe-Fisher Funeral Home, 147 Main Street, Flemington, NJ. Interment will follow in St. Magdalen Cemetery, Flemington, NJ. Calling hours will be Wednesday 2:00-4:00 PM and 6:00-8:00 PM at the funeral Home.
