Samuel N. Patterson, age 84 years, of Readington Township, NJ, died on Wednesday, December 10, 2008, in Morristown Memorial Hospital, Morristown, NJ.

Born in Flemington, NJ, June 29, 1924, he was the son of the late Sheridan A. and Armenda Lake Patterson. He had formerly resided in Neshanic, NJ, moving to Readington Township in 1966.

He was a retired supervisor with Devero, Inc., Bridgewater, NJ, and after retirement operated a lawnmower service "The Little Engine Shop", Readington Township, NJ for over twenty years.

He was a United States Army veteran of World War II, serving in Africa, Italy, and France.

An avid gardener, he was a member of the Neshanic United Methodist Church, Neshanic Station, NJ.

He was pre-deceased by two brothers, Martin and John Patterson, and two sisters, Blanche Conneen and Ruth Patterson. Surviving are his wife of fifty-seven years, Ruth Marie Amerman Patterson; two sons, Norman Patterson of Ringoes, NJ, and Douglas Patterson of Phoenix, AZ; a sister, Edith Norman of Feasterville, PA; and four grandchildren: Alexis, Nicholas, Katlyn, and Johnny Patterson.

Funeral Services will be held on Friday, December 19, 2008 at 11 AM in the Holcombe-Fisher Funeral Home, 147 Main Street, Flemington, NJ. Interment will be in Neshanic Cemetery, Neshanic, NJ. Calling hours will be held on Thursday, December 18, 2008 from 7-9 PM in the funeral home.

Memorial contributions, in lieu of flowers, may be made to the Patterson Grandchildren's College Fund, C/O Tom Kerest at Flemington Financial Group, 50 Main Street, Flemington, NJ 08822.
