Samuel S. Desh

September 16, 1945 — July 9, 2017

BENSALEM, PA - Samuel Desh, age 71 years, died Sunday, July 9, 2017 at St. Mary Medical Center in Langhorne PA. Born on September 16, 1945 in Koilpatty, India to the late Charles and Lily Victor, Samuel Desh was the youngest of 3 children. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, son, brother, and friend. He loved and married his wife, Kala in 1974; they were married more than 43 years. Samuel and Kala welcomed their son, Paul Dinesh into the world in 1977, and spent a lifetime creating a legacy of faith, hope and love. He brought his family to the United States in June 1983, and stayed with his brother, Suresh and Miriam Vedanayagam for one year. He had also one sister, Mallika Kantayya and two nieces, that lived nearby. His late father, Charles Victor, lived with them for many years. Though he worked as a Sports Officer in SPIC, Tuitcorin, India, Samuel Desh studied to become a Cytotechnologist in America and worked in Quest Diagnostic Laboratory for over 20 years with his wife, Kala. He had three grandkids – Naveen Victor, Nithin Jey, and Ariya Grace by his son and daughter-in-law, Preeya. Samuel competed as an outstanding athlete in the areas of field hockey, cricket, soccer, and tennis. He also enjoyed hunting and eating. He used his deep baritone voice to sing with his wife at many functions. Samuel enjoyed making world class biryani (his grandkids favorite), ghee roast dosa, and exceptional curry dishes. He enjoyed supervising his wife as she kept a robust garden with vegetables, fruit trees, and a fish pond. His witty sense of humor amused friends and family far and near. Samuel was outgoing, friendly, hospitable, people loving, with a generous and compassionate heart. For most of his adult life, Samuel fought against heart disease and went through two open heart surgeries and multiple procedures. God poured His grace was upon him and gave him a renewed life in the Lord for 31 additional years. God abundantly blessed him, spiritually and otherwise. Some of his favorite verses were: “They that wait upon the Lord shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings like eagles; They shall run, and not be weary; and they shall walk and not faint.” Isaiah 40:31. “Let not your heart be troubled; believe in God, believe also in me.” John 14:1. “For sin shall not have dominion over you: for you are not under the law but under grace.” Romans 6:14. Those who loved him and he left behind- wife, son, grandchildren, brother and sister, family and friends- anticipate their reunion with him one day in heaven. He will be greatly missed. Funeral services officiated by the Rev. Dr. Chandra S. Soans, PhD., will be held at 11:00 am on Saturday, July 15, 2017 at the Flemington Presbyterian Church, 10 E. Main Street, Flemington, NJ 08822.
