Sean Mckiernan

Sean McKiernan, age 30, of Wilmington, NC, who lost his battle with substance abuse, passed away Thursday, January 27, 2022.

Born January 14, 1992, in Summit, NJ, son of David D. McKiernan (Marcy) and Candice McKiernan, he formerly resided in Middlesex, NJ before moving to North Carolina.

Sean enjoyed playing sports and was a three-year starting goalkeeper in high school. He was an avid disc golf player, and his favorite pastime was playing in a travel softball league.

Sean worked as a manager for a furniture company in Wilmington, NC.

He is predeceased by his maternal grandparents, Joseph Ihnat (Susan) and Bernice Slavin (Edward), his paternal grandfather, David B. McKiernan, his step grandfather, Dr. Harry Woske, his uncle, Jeffrey Ihnat, and aunt, Elizabeth Vassallo.

Surviving, in addition to his parents, are his beloved son, Cole McKiernan, his sister, Courtney McKiernan and his paternal grandmother, Patricia McKiernan. Sean also leaves behind a circle of friends who he thought of as extended family.

Funeral services will be held on Saturday, April 2, 2022, at 11:00 AM at the Holcombe-Fisher Funeral Home, 147 Main Street, Flemington, NJ. Interment will follow in New Cemetery, Somerville, NJ. Calling hours will be held on Saturday, April 2, 2022, from 10:00-11:00 AM at the funeral home.
