Senovia "Sonni" Balle

Senovia Balle, (called “Sonni” by everyone) of Raritan Twp. passed away at the age of 87 on Tuesday, October 18, 2022.

Sonni was born in the Bronx on January 29, 1935 and the daughter of Thomas and Carmella Lara. She spent her early years in the Bronx and attended Cathedral High in NYC. Sonni moved to Elizabeth and then Newark where she met Robert (Bob) Caruso and was married for 18 years. Sonni and Bob bought a home in Irvington where they raised their three children (Cathy, Anthony and Tina). Later on, Sonni remarried Joseph Balle and eventually settled in Flemington where she stayed for the last 38 years.

Sonni was a banker for over 35 years and has many fond memories of her banking days. At the young age of 53, Sonni decided to become an LPN nurse where she worked with the elderly in nursing homes and hospice.

Sonni was an active member of Saint Elizabeth Ann Seton in Three Bridges and had a very strong faith. It was her faith that helped her through many tough times, especially at the end with her battle with cancer.

You would always find Sonni working on a Penny Press puzzle book and watching Jeopardy. She loved to have fun and enjoy life. She also enjoyed dancing, going to concerts, and travel. She loved cooking her favorite dishes for her family, especially Spanish rice and manicotti. Sonni loved her family more than anything in the world “La Familia” is what she always said.

Sonni is survived by her three children: Cathy O’Neill (Keith) of Flemington, Anthony Caruso (Michele Falzone) of Wall Twp. and Tina Glitz (Jason) of Towson, MD: her five grandchildren: Sydney O’Neill, Sara O’Neill, Charlotte Glitz, Anthony Caruso and Nicholas Caruso.

A Mass will be held on Saturday, November 5, 2022, at 12 noon at St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Roman Catholic Church, 105 Summer Road, Three Bridges, NJ followed by a memorial at the Moose Lodge, 81 Barley Sheaf Rd., Flemington from 1:00-4:00 p.m.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in Sonni’s name may be made to Shriners Hospitals for Children, 3551 N. Broad Street, Philadelphia, PA 19140 or to Tunnel to Towers Foundation, 2361 Hylan Blvd. Staten Island, NY 10306.
